At the end of the day, you and your fiance are going to be the ones who make the decision about your wedding day moving forward.

However, at T& L Coordination, we believe that it is time to postpone your wedding day especially if your wedding is supposed to happen within the next 8 weeks.

Whether you are a couple planning to get married or a wedding vendor, if you are experiencing stress or concern about your event in the midst of all the current events we wish to express our sincere concern and empathy.

We are truly sorry for what you are going through and are offering to help in whatever way possible. We would do anything to take it away.

If you have a wedding within the next 8 weeks’ time frame, due to the multiple shutdowns we are seeing a delay in the production and delivery of wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses.

We are also seeing a delay in delivery of wedding decor depending on where they are coming from.

As we post this today, any gathering of more than ten people has been prohibited to prioritize social distancing. It is recommended that organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that would bring about a gathering of people.

The Dallas county clerk office is currently closed for face-to-face transactions until further notice, this affects anyone who needs to get a marriage license.

We strongly encourage you to pay attention to the updates for your City, County, and State. Continue to follow updates from the government and from the CDC.

What steps should you take to postpone your wedding?

Step 1: Check your wedding insurance.

Review your wedding insurance policy. Wedding insurance that was purchased before the outbreak may cover a situation similar to what is going on today and may help you recover some of the losses that you might incur with these changes.

If you purchased the wedding insurance after the outbreak your policy may have addendums to the policies that may not cover a similar outbreak.

We urge you to carefully review every detail of your wedding insurance policy. There isn’t a broad policy that affects everyone the same, you will simply have to look at what your own policy states.

We recommend that you always get wedding insurance but note that in the future after the pandemic, wedding insurance policies coverage may be different.

Step 2: Review your contracts.

We ask you to carefully review your contracts and be aware of all the information, guidelines, and limitations that your vendors have provided to you in your contract.

We recommend being well-informed of this information in your contracts so when you call your vendors you have a really good understanding of what you legally agreed to when you signed the contract. This will make the conversation between you and the vendor more objective.

Step 3: Speak to your vendors.

Our recommendation is that when you speak to your vendors, postpone your wedding event to a later date vs canceling it.

If you decide to cancel your event, you risk losing all the deposits that you have already paid and also risk losing any other payments that you have already made.

Many vendors may have a no refund policy on deposits. Many vendors may not refund for any services provided but may refund for services not provided yet, however, this will be different from vendor to vendor.

That is why we recommend that you postpone the event to a future date instead of cancelling the event entirely. Ask your vendors what their suggestion is to move forward and keep that good open relationship with them.

We also suggest that you call your vendors as soon as you can and find out what their schedule looks like. There will be other couples who will also be postponing their weddings and with their new dates, they may lose their original vendors. This will create a much higher demand on the availability of vendors.

Step 4: Communicate with all your guests.

Once you have communicated with your vendors and know the details of your postponed event, talk to your guests, and let them know of the changes to your wedding day.

You can communicate with your guests through group email, phone chain, group text or these mobile Change the date cards that you can download and customize for free.

Let your guests know that you want to comply with regulations and recommendations of the CDC and government authorities and have chosen to postpone your event for their health and safety.

Also update your wedding website with all the new wedding details and inform your guests that any new updates will be posted on the wedding website. This will decrease the number of guests contacting you and the number of questions you will get from your guests.
